“Adopt a Highway” and “Sponsor a Highway” help Keep Roadsides Clean
Pennsylvania has 150,000 acres of state-maintained roadside. There are two ways you can help keep them beautiful.
“Adopt a Highway” relies on the beautification efforts of volunteers and civic groups. With “Sponsor a Highway,” businesses pay contractors for mowing, cleanup, etc. and are recognized by signs along the roadway. Find out more here.
Tips to Prevent Vacation Time Burglaries
There are easy ways to make your home less vulnerable to burglars during vacation.
Making the home look “lived in” by stopping mail delivery and putting lights on timers helps. Installing dead bolt locks on doors can slow a burglar’s ability to enter your home, and in some cases can lead to a discount on insurance.

Boating Basics for New Boat Owners
Pennsylvania has 85,000 miles of rivers and streams along with 76 natural and 2,300 constructed lakes for boating.
Find everything you need to know about boating, including registration, safety, locations, boat types, equipment, accessories and more here.
Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program
The application period is open for the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program for income-eligible and citizens with disabilities to receive rebates on property taxes or rent paid in 2018. The deadline to apply is June 30, 2019.
Claimants must reapply for rebates every year because rebates are based on annual income and property taxes or rent paid in each year.
As always, you can contact any of my district offices if you need help checking your eligibility or if you need help in applying for the program.
Guidelines & applications can be found here.
Real ID is coming
Beginning on October 1, 2020, Pennsylvania residents will need a Real ID – compliant driver’s license, photo ID card, or another form of federally-acceptable identification (includes a valid passport or military ID) to board domestic commercial flights, enter a federal building or enter a military base.
More information on Real ID and the steps you can take to acquire one can be found at the link here.
