Senator Tomlinson: PA Home Heating Equipment Rebate Program

(Harrisburg) – Pennsylvania received an $11 million grant from the U.S. Department of Energy under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to help consumers save money and energy by offering rebates for non-electric home heating and water heating equipment.

"The Pennsylvania Home Heating Equipment Rebate Program could help as many as 33,000 households throughout the Commonwealth to purchase Energy Star-rated, non electric residential hot water heaters, furnaces and boilers.  The federally funded rebates will range from $100 to $500 depending on the equipment's energy efficiency rating," said Tomlinson.

Tomlinson said that the new generation of heating systems allow households to reduce energy consumption and lower costs.  While these systems can be expensive, those individuals who are considering an upgrade should consider taking a look at the rebate program.

Consumers who upgrade their home heating systems with an Energy Star- rated system can apply for their rebates by completing an online form or call 1-877-592-2061 to make a reservation.  Consumers must also have a contractor install a qualifying product and submit the completed rebate application within 30 days of the reservation date. Only purchases made after April 21, 2010 will be eligible.

For more program details and applications, prospective consumers should visit www.paheatingrebates.com. To learn more information about rebates for appliance upgrades, consumers are encouraged to contact their electric utility.
